Geli Ali Beg Summer Resort
It is situated on Hamilton International Road between Khelifan and Soran. It is a 12km long rocky strait. In Geli Ali Beg the tourist is isolated from the world inside a dreadful rocky valley that has as only view of the sky a long line over it.The waterfalls in Geli Ali Beg rumble and flow abundantly, from a height of more than ten meters towards one corner of the strait, making a large water basin where the summer tourists gather to contemplate the beautiful sight. Then, the water goes on flowing along the valley slope to the North East, where it joins another course and both go on together through a gap crossing the middle of the rocky valley. Geli Ali Beg waterfall 130km far from Erbil, and it is one of the beautiful summer resorts in the government, widely known in Iraq, and its picture is engraved on the Iraqi currency. It is 800m high from the sea level, and the temperatures reach 35°C as a maximum in summer, and 10 °C sub-zero in winter.
