Gilkand Park

One of the oldest parks in Erbil which was built in 1968 and is now located next to the Sheraton Hotel [Erbil International Hotel] and opposite the University of Kurdistan-Hewler. Until 15 years ago, it had been one of the most important parks in Erbil, visited during holidays by thousands of Erbil citizens. After the creation of gardens and new parks in the city, people are rarely visiting Gilkand. It is decided that the Directorate of Garden Design should reconstruct the park and give it a new look, in order to bring the past success back to it.
