A conference on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Coexistence was held

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025. A conference commemorating the Universal Declaration of Human Rights Day and Coexistence was jointly organized by the International Rights Institute and Baghdad's Rwaq Center for Public Policy.
The event was attended by Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw, along with a notable gathering of parliamentarians, politicians, public figures, legal experts, and intellectuals.

In his address, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw emphasized that the history of coexistence in the Kurdistan Region runs deep, stating, "The tolerance and coexistence among different ethnicities and religious groups in the Kurdistan Region is a well-established address with historical roots."

"It is impossible for the Kurdistan Region to abandon the values of tolerance and coexistence. Instead, we will continue to strengthen these principles further. This commitment is the secret behind the international community's growing trust in the people of Kurdistan," Khoshnaw affirmed.

The Governor stressed that any contradiction to this understanding acts as a "deadly disease" that affects humanity. He expressed hope that this model of coexistence would be reflected throughout Iraqi society, calling on authorities to take practical steps in this direction. He warned that without trust in ethnic and religious coexistence, serious questions arise, ultimately harming only the people of Iraq.
