On Tuesday, February 8, 2024, In the presence of Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Hama Hama Saeed, Minister of Culture and Youth, Safeen Dizayee, Head of Foreign Relations department of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Seungcheol Lim , Consul General of South Korea in Erbil, and the head of the KOICA Agency in the Kurdistan Region, in a ceremony, a $12 million contract was signed with KOICA Agency to build a modern educational community in the Zhin neighborhood in the Daratu district of Erbil Governorate, as well as building a teacher training center, in addition to renovating the Zayton Library building and restoring and renovating 20 schools in Erbil.
It's important to highlight that, following the guidance of the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government and in alignment with the priorities of the Ninth Cabinet of the Regional Government, numerous educational initiatives have been executed in the past years. This includes the construction and renovation of numerous schools in Erbil Governorate, with a focus on creating a conducive educational environment for students. The upcoming year is slated to witness the construction of a significant number of schools, particularly in disadvantaged areas and neighborhoods.
