Governor of Erbil Visits the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil

On Sunday, August 2, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, visited the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil. He was accompanied by Dr. Ali Rashid, Chairman of the Erbil Provincial Council; Hemin Qadir, Deputy Governor; Shakir Hussein, Head of Relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran; and Brigadier Khosro Ghazi, Director of Internal Affairs.
They were received by Faramarz Asadi, the Consul General.
 

During the meeting, they discussed the entry process for Iranian pilgrims traveling through the Haji Omeran International Border Crossing to Erbil, on their way to holy sites in Iraq for the Arba'een commemoration of Imam Hussein.

In this regard, the Consul General of Iran expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Governor of Erbil and all government departments and institutions in the province for their cooperation and efforts.

On the sidelines of the visit, the Governor of Erbil and his accompanying delegation extended their condolences to the Consul General on the passing of his mother, expressing their sympathies to his family during this difficult time. For his part, the Consul General expressed his sincere thanks to the Governor and the delegation for their visit and for offering their condolences.
