Governor of Erbil Receives Director of Turkish Maarif International Schools in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region

Today, Thursday, August 20, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received
Ali Arikmert, the Director of the Turkish Maarif International Schools
Foundation in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region, and an accompanying delegation at
the governorate office.

During the meeting, they discussed the current state of the education sector and
the standard of learning within Maarif schools. They emphasized the importance
of supporting education and academic institutions. In this regard, the Governor
of Erbil highlighted the necessity of raising the quality of education and
reaffirmed that the capital, Erbil, consistently supports educational projects
that contribute to the development of students' skills.

In another part of the meeting, discussions focused on the future projects of
Maarif schools and the foundation's plans to strengthen its educational centers.
Both sides stressed the need to advance the education system, provide learning
opportunities, and maintain high educational standards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the visiting delegation expressed their
gratitude for the warm reception and the Governor of Erbil's continuous support
for the development of various sectors in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan
Region.
