President Barzani Meets with the Chairman and Members of the Saladin Provincial Council

On Monday, August 24, 2026, in Pirmam, President Masoud Barzani met with the Chairman and members of the Saladin Provincial Council.
 

During the meeting, the visiting delegation congratulated President Barzani on the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and expressed their appreciation for his role in the struggle and history of the people of Kurdistan, as well as in the building of the new Iraq.

They also thanked President Barzani for the Kurdistan Region's welcoming of displaced persons during the attack by ISIS terrorists, describing it as a prime example of humanitarianism, brotherhood, and a sense of responsibility.

The delegation highly valued the sacrifices made by the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces and the region's institutions in combating terrorists and ensuring stability and security.

Furthermore, they requested coordination between the administrative units of Saladin Governorate and the governorates of the Kurdistan Region to benefit from the administrative and developmental experience of the Kurdistan Region.
 

In the same meeting, President Barzani warmly welcomed the visiting delegation and commended them for the coordination and joint work among the ethnic and religious communities in that governorate. He also provided a brief overview of the history of Kurdistan's liberation movement to the attendees, emphasizing brotherhood, harmony, and peaceful coexistence among the various components of Iraq.

He stated that, thankfully, previous Iraqi regimes were unable to turn the political disputes between the people of Kurdistan and past governments into conflicts between the peoples of Iraq. In another part of his speech, President Barzani highlighted Iraq post-2003, reiterating that the Iraqi constitution serves as a suitable roadmap for resolving all existing problems and issues.

In another part of the meeting, the attendees directed their questions and observations regarding the political, security, and administrative situation of their regions to President Barzani, who provided the necessary answers and clarifications.
