Farewell Ceremony for Head of EU Liaison Office and Welcome for Successor Held at Erbil Citadel

On Sunday night, August 30, 2026, a ceremony was held at the historic Erbil Citadel to bid farewell to the outgoing Head of the European Union Liaison Office, Radu Butum, and to welcome his successor, Stefan Wendt.
 

The event was attended by representatives of the Kurdistan Region's President and Prime Minister, and the Governor of Erbil. The ceremony was also attended by the EU Ambassador to Iraq, Klemens Semtner, along with various ministers and diplomats.

On this occasion, the outgoing official was thanked for his efforts, while his successor was welcomed to his new role to further strengthen international relations.
