Governor of Erbil Receives Regional Director of Save the Children International

Today, Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the governorate headquarters, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Mr. Ahmad Rafea Alhendawi, Regional Director of Save the Children International for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe, along with an accompanying delegation, as part of continuous efforts prioritizing the humanitarian situation and child rights protection in the capital, Erbil.
 

During the meeting, both sides discussed the overall situation of children and closely reviewed the organization’s current projects and activities across Erbil Governorate. They also addressed mechanisms to enhance bilateral coordination, aiming to broaden the scope of the organization’s efforts to reach the largest possible number of children in need of humanitarian, educational, and healthcare support.

The visiting delegation subsequently outlined their organization’s future plans and strategies in the Kurdistan Region.

The Regional Director of Save the Children International conveyed his and his organization's gratitude and appreciation to the Governor of Erbil and relevant institutions for their continued cooperation and facilitation, which support their teams in successfully fulfilling their humanitarian missions.

For his part, the Governor of Erbil commended the global efforts and activities of Save the Children International, particularly in the Kurdistan Region.
He reaffirmed the Erbil Governorate's full readiness and commitment to provide all necessary facilitation to support the success of the organization's upcoming projects, which contribute to safeguarding child rights and fostering a safe, healthy environment for their development.
