At Machko Cultural Cafe, Governor of Erbil Receives New UK Consul General

Today, Wednesday, September 16, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Holly Vare, the newly appointed Consul General of the United Kingdom in Erbil, at the historic Machko Cultural Cafe.

During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil congratulated Consul General Vare on assuming her new post and wished her success in her duties, reaffirmed his full support for her mission.

He commended the ongoing efforts of the British Embassy and Consulate General in strengthening ties between the United Kingdom and the Kurdistan Region, expressing hope that her tenure will further advance the historic relationship between both sides.

For her part, Consul General Vare expressed her pleasure at beginning her mission in the Kurdistan Region and reiterated her country's commitment to further enhancing bilateral cooperation across various fields.
