Presidents of the Kurdistan Region and Iraq emphasize the resolution of differences through dialogue

The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, welcomed on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. At Erbil International Airport, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Abdullatif Rashid, on his first visit to the capital of the Kurdistan Region since assuming the presidency.

In addition to welcoming him, and renewing his congratulations to the President of the Republic on his position and his hope for success in it, the President of the Kurdistan Region indicated, during a meeting, that: "We have expectations that through the opportunity offered by your position , you will play a role in solving problems." He stressed "the readiness and support of the Kurdistan Region to solve problems with Baghdad and joint work with the federal government in order to achieve and strengthen security and stability in the country," according to a statement from the presidency of the region.

For his part, the President of the Republic of Iraq expressed his hope for joint action, with the support of all Iraqi political forces and parties, to solve the problems of Erbil - Baghdad and other problems of the country in general, and to maintain security and stability. In the meeting, which was attended by the Vice President of the Kurdistan Region, the Governor of Erbil and a number of officials in Erbil and Baghdad, the two sides stressed that "the common understanding between Erbil and Baghdad is the key to security and stability in the country," and the two sides exchanged views on the situation in the region in general and a set of issues of common interest.
