Governor of Erbil receives Greek Ambassador to Iraq
On Sunday, December 11, 2022. Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw received Greek Ambassador to Iraq Georgios Almanos and Greek Consul General in the Kurdistan Region Stavros Kyrimis at the governor's office. In a conversation, the Greek Ambassador to Iraq expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable progress of Erbil and praised the governor of Erbil and called him an efficient governor.
He said that Erbil and other cities in the Kurdistan Region "are seeing changes" so it is not surprising that Iraqi government officials return to Erbil every week for vacation.
He stressed that the purpose of their visit to Erbil was to further strengthen the channels of communication with the Kurdistan Region and for this purpose they held a successful and productive meeting with the President of the Kurdistan Region, a delegation of the Greek government will soon visit the Kurdistan Region and sign a memorandum of understanding in the field of agriculture and tourism.
For his part, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw warmly welcomed the guest delegation and congratulated the Greek Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his work, he also briefed the delegation on the characteristics of Erbil as the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
The governor of Erbil said that they hope that the Greek government will raise its relations at the diplomatic level and take steps towards trade and investment.
The Greek Ambassador to Iraq and the Greek Consul General in the Kurdistan Region thanked the Governor of Erbil for their close discussions on various issues.
In the meeting, both sides discussed the importance of creating the conditions for deepening these relations "in a way that serves the interests of both Kurdish and Greek peoples.".
