The governor of Erbil has announced the launch of the thirteenth "Freedom and Newroz" festival

Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw held a press conference in the governor's office regarding the preparations of Erbil governorate for the March commemoration and the 13th Freedom and Newroz Festival in Erbil.

He announced that the festival will begin on March 11, the day of the Erbil people's uprising, and continue until the evening of March 20. He added that this year the festival will be enriched by benefiting from the experiences of previous years, pointing out that the festival will feature art in all of its forms, as well as literary, cultural, heritage and historical and environmental activities, and sporting aspects.

The governor also stated that other artistic centers, such as institutes and colleges of fine arts, will join us and reflect Erbil's coexistence.

According to the governor of Erbil, the festival will be inaugurated by the unveiling of a memorial to Mrs. Khaja Bawa, a brave woman who played a prominent role and contribution to the Erbil uprising, as well as the unveiling of a mural of the Erbil uprising martyrs, in addition to remembering the crime of chemical bombing on the martyred city of Halabja.
