Erbil: hosts the CONIFA World Football Cup

The Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received today, Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Governor’s office, the head and delegation of CONIFA, which plans to hold the CONIFA World Football Cup in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region.

The Head of the (CONIFA) delegation commended the recent developments in the Kurdistan Region, particularly in its capital, Erbil. He added that the Kurdistan Region's security stability and health sector growth are at a high level, which is favorable for hosting the tournament in Erbil.

The governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, stated, "The security and health sectors in the Kurdistan Region differ from those in other parts of the country since they were given priority in the government's program and goals."

The governor expressed his hope that the (CONIFA) delegation would be successful in its mission, indicating that the Kurdistan Region is willing to host any world championship, and that the administration of Erbil Governorate supports the idea of holding the CONIFA World Football Cup in the Kurdistan Region.

It is worth mentioning that the CONIFA delegation will visit the stadiums and locations required to host the CONIFA World Football Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the Kurdistan Region in mid-2024.
