Erbil Governor’s message on the 36th anniversary of the chemical bombing of Balisan, Sheikh Sinan and Khoshnawati Valley

In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful

On the thirty-sixth anniversary of the bombing with chemical weapons on the Balisan Valley, the villages of Sheikh Sinan, and the Khoshnawati Valley, we bow with reverence and honor to the souls of the martyrs, and we salute with great appreciation and glorification the memory of this tragedy, a tribute and appreciation to the injured and the families of the victims of that massacre.

The crime of the chemical attack on Balisan, Sheikh, Sinan and Khoshnawati Valley, which was committed by the most brutal regime of this era and in front of the eyes of the world, left a deep wound in the body of our people that will never be forgotten.

Although, in the past year, as the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil Governorate, within the framework of our service projects, we were able to provide many service projects to this loyal and sacrificial area, which was a place, a haven, and support for the Peshmerga and the revolutionaries of Kurdistan, and its people played a major role in helping and sheltering the Peshmerga. But they still need more service, so the Iraqi state must assume its responsibilities towards all the crimes and massacres committed against this region and the people of Kurdistan.

A tribute to the souls of the martyrs of the chemical attacks on Balisan, Sheikh Sinan, Khoshnawati Valley and all the martyrs of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement

Omed Khoshnaw

Governor of Erbil
