Prime Minister Barzani laid foundation stone of ‘largest’ solar power plant in the country

Prime Minister MR. Masrour Barzani laid the foundation stone of the largest solar power plant in the Kurdistan Region on Thursday, May 18, 2023.

The plant has a capacity of 25 MW and a huge number of solar panels. The plant is environmentally beneficial, and the electricity it produces is fed into the national grid.

The Kurdistan Regional Government seeks to enhance the quantity of electricity generated by solar energy compared to the current level, and similar initiatives are being implemented to that end.

The $100 million project will span 590 acres and be completed in a year.

There are two solar power facilities with a combined capacity of 3 megawatts in the Kurdistan Region.

In the Independent Administration of Soran, the government has chosen to build a power plant with a capacity of 100 megawatts at a cost of 235 billion dinars.

The Kurdistan Regional Government's ninth cabinet has taken numerous key initiatives to protect the environment and prevent the harmful consequences of power plant energy burning.
