Governor of Erbil conveys a message on the anniversary of Anfal Barzanis

In the name of God, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Today marks the anniversary of a dark day in the history of our people, where 40 years ago, on July 31, 1983, the fascist Ba'athist regime arrested eight thousand Barzani men, young and old, between the ages of nine and ninety, and brutally exterminated them in the deserts. Southern Iraq.

This major crime marked the beginning of a racist campaign by the fascist Ba'athist regime against the Kurdish people. This crime was a link in a series of tragedies, sacrifices and racist campaigns launched by the defunct regime against the people of Kurdistan, represented by the Anfal Garmian and Badinan, in addition to the bombing of Halabja and other parts of Kurdistan with chemical weapons.

The Barzan region has been destroyed, burned and exterminated dozens of times throughout the history of the struggle and sacrifices of our people, the last of which was the annihilation and extermination of eight thousand Barzani, and this is another crime and a black point added to the black history of the defunct Ba'athist regime, which did everything in its power to erase the Kurdish nation.

However, despite all these crimes, tyranny and oppression, the will did not shake or break the spirit of steadfastness and resistance in the Barzan region, which has always revolted against injustice and oppression, and the people of Kurdistan and the Barzan region remained proud.

As we remember this tragedy and the anniversary of the genocide of the Barzanis, we salute with respect and appreciation the honorable families and relatives of the Anfal who faced the most difficult times, and affirm that they are our family and children and deserve attention and all kinds of services.

A thousand greetings to the souls of our righteous martyrs... A salute to their resistance and steadfastness

Long live the Kurds... long live Kurdistan
Eternity for the martyrs
