The Governor of Erbil receives the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil

Today, Wednesday, August 23, July, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw received Nasrullah Rashnoudi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil and an accompanying delegation.
 

During the meeting, the Iranian Consul General thanked the Erbil Governor for all of the help and amenities provided to Iranian pilgrims visiting Iraq's holy sites, which also underlined the expansion of contacts, coordination, and cooperation between the two sides. In this regard, the governor of Erbil emphasized that in order to welcome Iranian pilgrims to the holy places of Iraq from the international border crossing of Haji Omeran into the Kurdistan Region to the last point of our province, which is Sherawa, we have made all preparations in terms of providing necessary services and emergency, as the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil Governorate will provide what we can in assistance and facilitation, and he assured them that pilgrim safety is a top priority.

In another topic of the meeting, discussions were held on the movement of citizens of the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic by their private vehicles between the two sides, the guest delegation also provided a summary of the steps taken to facilitate Kurdistan citizens' travel to the Islamic Republic of Iran through the establishment of a special card.
 

The governor of Erbil, for his part, commended for drafting the measures, saying, “We are pleased that another point of the agreements reached between Erbil and West Azerbaijan (Urmia) over the last two years is being implemented. Since the signing of the agreement, most of the points have been implemented by both sides, the desire to provide facilities and assistance to citizens traveling by their own vehicles to the Islamic Republic of Iran has been one of the points of the agreement between us, so we assure you that we will implement it as soon as possible, after studying and working according to the applicable procedures and guidelines of both countries."
 

Finally, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil thanked the Governor of Erbil and emphasized his willingness to help enhance relations in any way possible.
