In Erbil… a scientific conference on climate change and food security was held

MesoNature, in collaboration with the Erbil Governorate Council, held a scientific conference today, Monday, September 18, 2023, in Erbil, entitled "Climate Change, Food Security, and the Risks of Excessive Water Use," in the presence of Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw and Erbil Governorate Council Chairman Dr. Ali Rashid.

During a conference, the Governor of Erbil stated that climate change and its effects and repercussions are a critical concern, adding that three seasons of drought and water are one of Erbil's management challenges.
 

"Climate change and its effects and consequences are a very important issue at the global level," he added, "and everyone agrees on this issue."
 

He continued: Climate change, food security, and the water crises are all critical issues, and the Erbil government has been dealing with drought and water issues for three seasons.
 

Khoshnaw confirmed, "The Kurdistan Regional Government organized a strategy to prevent climate-related impacts in Kurdistan, noting that due to the financial crisis, strategic issues were not properly addressed and only temporary measures were implemented."

During the conference, a number of panel discussions were conducted on the dangers of excessive water consumption, the preservation of water resources, the expansion of green spaces, and food security.
