Erbil marks the end of a 16-day campaign to combat violence against women in the Kurdistan Region

Today, Sunday, December 10, 2023, under the patronage of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and in the presence of the Prime Minister’s representative, Reber Ahmed, Minister of Interior, and Dr. Alan Hama Saeed, Minister of Education, Anu Johar, Minister of Transport and communications, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, Safeen Dizayee, the Head of the Department of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and Dr. Khanzad Ahmed, Secretary General of the High Council of Women’s Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government, and a number of representatives of foreign missions, and representatives of civil organizations in the Kurdistan Region, held a ceremony marking the conclusion of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women in the Kurdistan Region.

These activities coincide with International Human Rights Day on December 10, which is also International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
 

Every year, during the 16-day campaign to prevent violence against women, the Kurdistan Region in general, and Erbil in particular, witness several events and activities with the participation of government agencies, institutes, and women's organizations. On this occasion, Erbil, the capital, experienced a slew of women's activities and festivities.
