The Governor of Erbil receives the advisory team of the German Army Command in the Kurdistan Region
The Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received today, Monday, January 8, 2024, at the governorate office, advisors to the German Army Command in the Kurdistan Region, Louisa Roemer and Max.
During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil wished them success in their work and mission in the Kurdistan Region within the framework of the international coalition, which is to train and assist the Peshmerga forces, The Governor also expressed appreciation to Germany for assisting and standing by the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces in their fight against ISIS.
The Erbil Governor reiterated the Erbil Governorate's support for the success of the German Army Command advisors' tasks and work, emphasizing the significance of bilateral cooperation to uphold peace and stability in the region.
In another topic of the meeting, the situation in Iraq and the region in general and the necessity and importance of cooperation, coordination and work to maintain peace and stability in the region were discussed. The Erbil Governor stated, "Militias claim to target coalition forces, but in truth, their focus is on the Kurdistan region. We urge the Iraqi government to adopt a firm stance." He called upon the international coalition to safeguard the airspace of the Kurdistan Region, preventing further attacks by outlaw groups on the area.
For their part, the German advisory team in the Kurdistan Region expressed gratitude to the Governor of Erbil for the warm reception, affirming their nation's complete readiness to support the Kurdistan Region. They emphasized their commitment to cooperation and coordination with the Governor of Erbil.
