The Deputy Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Iraq visits Hassan Sham camp

On Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Hassan Sham camp, Naz Jalal, Director of Crisis Response and Coordination in Erbil Governorate, welcomed Ghulam Mohammad Isaczai, Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General, Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), along with the accompanying delegation.
 

In the meeting, attended by Botan Salah al-Din, Director of Refugee Camps at the Barzani Charitable Foundation, Armen Hoso, Director of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Erbil, and representatives from the International Organization for Migration and the United Nations Development Programme, discussions centered on the overall humanitarian situation of refugees in the Kurdistan Region. Specifically, the focus was on refugees residing in camps, addressing issues within the camps, and examining the challenges hindering the return of refugees to their homeland.
 

The visiting delegation, in turn, conveyed their preparedness to assist the cause. Following this, Ghulam Ishaqzai and the accompanying delegation toured various locations within the camp, closely inspecting the challenges faced by the displaced individuals and attentively listening to their needs and concerns.
