 Erbil.. The President of the Republic of Armenia visits the Holy Cross Church of the Armenian Orthodox community

On February 29, 2024, President Vahagn Khachaturyan of the Republic of Armenia paid a visit to the Holy Cross Church in the Ankawa District of Erbil Governorate, where he was welcomed by Governor Omed Khoshnaw, Regional Minister of Transportations and Communications Anu Johar, Ankawa District Mayor Rami Odish, and several Christian clerics.
 

Throughout the visit, President Vahagn Khachaturyan commended the advancements and stability observed in the Kurdistan Region. He expressed gratitude for the Kurdistan Regional Government's efforts in fostering a peaceful atmosphere that promotes tolerance and harmonious coexistence among various sects and religions. The President also extended his thanks to the Kurdistan Regional Government for its commitment to the well-being of the Armenian community.
 

It is noteworthy that there are five Armenian churches in the Kurdistan Region, four of them situated in Dohuk Governorate, the Church of the Holy Cross, catering to the Armenian Orthodox community, was erected in the Ankawa region, funded by the regional government with a total area of 5,309 square meters.
