Today, Sunday, April 21, 2024, the Governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw, received at the governorate’s office, Mohamed Wagih Hegazy, Consul of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the Kurdistan Region.

At the meeting, the Governor of Erbil welcomed the Egyptian Consul warmly, and conveyed his best wishes for success in his role. Emphasizing Egypt's significance in the region, he reiterated Erbil Governorate and the Kurdistan Regional Government's eagerness to enhance ties with Egypt. Additionally, he underscored the historical bond between the Kurdish and Egyptian peoples, signifying mutual respect.

Another topic discussed during the meeting centered on the role of Al-Azhar in fostering a culture of coexistence and embracing diversity. Additionally, there were talks about expanding educational opportunities for Kurdistan students in Egyptian universities, as well as exploring job and investment prospects for the Egyptian private sector in Iraq, particularly in the Kurdistan Region and Erbil specifically.
