Erbil.. The national campaign to vaccinate children against measles continues

As part of the national campaign for vaccination against measles in the Kurdistan Region, on Thursday, April 25, 2024, both Alan Hama Saeed, the Minister of Education in the Regional Government, and Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, Minister of Health in the Federal Government, and Dr. Saman Barzanji, Minister of Health in the Kurdistan Regional Government, at Martyr Bahram Mixed Primary School in Erbil. Their visit aimed to closely monitor the progress of the campaign and the vaccination operations targeting children in schools and kindergartens.
 

Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi expressed gratitude to the health teams in Erbil Governorate during his visit, commending the success of the campaign in both the Kurdistan Region and Erbil. He highlighted the achievement of the medical teams, who managed to vaccinate 95% of the students and children participating in the campaign within a span of six days.
 

The joint campaign launched by the Kurdistan Regional Government in collaboration with the Iraqi Ministry of Health, the World Health Organization, and UNICEF spans a period of 10 days. Its objective is to vaccinate over 114 thousand children across 326 primary schools and kindergartens in Erbil Governorate. The primary goal is to enhance children's immunity against measles while safeguarding them from infectious diseases such as measles, mumps, and rubella.
