The Governor of Erbil receives the new Turkish Consul in Erbil

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at the renowned Majko Cafe in Erbil, Governor Omed Khoshnaw of Erbil, alongside Aydin Maruf SelimMinister of State for Minority Affairs in the Kurdistan Regional Government, received Erman Topcu, the newly appointed Turkish Consul General in Erbil.
 

During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil extended a warm welcome to the Turkish Consul, offering congratulations on his new role as the Consul General of Turkey in Erbil and expressing hopes for his success in the position.
 

During another segment of the meeting, both parties emphasized the ongoing enhancement and advancement of political, economic, commercial, cultural, and artistic ties between Turkey and the Kurdistan Region. These relations, rooted in a rich and enduring history, are consistently evolving and improving.
 

The new Turkish consul expressed condolences from both himself and his government to the Kurdistan Regional Government and the people of Erbil following the fire at the Qaysariyya bazaar. He conveyed their concern about the incident, stating, "We, the Turkish Consulate in Erbil and the Turkish government, are deeply troubled by this event and hope it brings an end to your hardships."
He also pledged readiness to offer any assistance needed.

The Governor of Erbil expressed gratitude to the Turkish Consul and the government of Turkey for their stance, while also informing him about the incident.
 

The Governor of Erbil, along with the Minister of Sects in the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Turkish Consul General, toured the site of the fire at the historic Erbil Bazaar. They engaged in discussions with shop owners and merchants to assess the situation firsthand.
