The Governor of Erbil receives a delegation from UNICEF

Today, August 15, 2024, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received a delegation from UNICEF. The delegation consisted of Mads Oyen, chief of field Operations for UNICEF, the Acting Head of the Erbil Office, and accompanying staff.
 

During the meeting, which was attended by Naz Jalal, Director of EJCC in Erbil Governorate, and Yousif Chawshin, General Director of Social Care and Development in Erbil, the delegation was warmly welcomed. The discussion emphasized the coordination and collaborative work between Erbil Governorate and UNICEF.

The Governor of Erbil highly appreciated UNICEF's work and activities in Erbil and the Kurdistan Region. He informed them that, in order to ensure the success of UNICEF's work and projects, the doors of all departments within Erbil Governorate and its surroundings are open.
 

Promoting issues related to children, education, health, water projects, and the environment within Erbil Governorate were other topics of the meeting. It was also requested that UNICEF expand their programs and projects in these areas.
 

Another topic of the meeting was the arrival of hundreds of thousands of displaced persons and refugees due to the threats of terrorism and ISIS, and their accommodation in the Kurdistan Region and Erbil. In this regard, the efforts of the Kurdistan Regional Government and Erbil Governorate in serving the displaced persons and refugees were praised.
 

Emphasis was also placed on the stability, peace, and security of Erbil Governorate, which has led to most of the important meetings of UNICEF and other international humanitarian organizations being held in Erbil.
