Kurdistan Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the Martyrs Monument Pond at the British University in Erbil
On Saturday September 7, 2024. Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, laid the foundation stone for the Martyrs Monument Pond in Erbil.
The pond is an earthen type, funded by the Erbil Governorate budget. It was studied and designed by the Directorate of Irrigation, which will also oversee its construction. The project will be located on the grounds of the British International University in Erbil, with a total cost of 1.5 billion dinars.
The pond has a height of 17 meters, a length of 520 meters, and a crest width of 7 meters, with a capacity to store 800,000 cubic meters of water. Its construction aims to enhance groundwater recharge, improve irrigation, mitigate flood risks, boost tourism, and safeguard the environment.
