Foundation Stone Laid for Important Water Recycling Project in Sami Abdulrahman Park

On Sunday evening, October 13, 2024, in the presence of Sasan Awni, Minister of Municipalities, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, the General Director of Water and Sewerage of the Region, the Deputy Representative of UNICEF in Iraq, and several other administrative officials, a ceremony was held to lay the foundation stone for a water recycling project in Sami Abdulrahman Park. The project, funded by UNICEF with a budget of $577,000, is being implemented in coordination with the General Directorate of Water and Sewerage of the Kurdistan Region.

It's worth noting that the water recycling project aims to purify and reuse greywater from nearby neighborhoods—water that has been used in households. The recycled water will then be utilized to irrigate the trees and plants within the park. This initiative will significantly contribute to water conservation and the protection of water resources in the city of Erbil.
