The Governor of Erbil and the Mayor of Istanbul Meet
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of enhancing relations between Istanbul and Erbil in all sectors, particularly in trade, and strengthening coordination between the two sides.
Today, Friday, November 28, 2024, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, as part of his official visit to Turkey and participation in the MUSIAD EXPO 2024, visited the Istanbul Municipality and met with Ekrem Imamoglu, the Mayor of Istanbul.
During the meeting, which was attended by Gaylan Haji Saeed, the President of the Erbil Chamber of Commerce, the Governor of Erbil conveyed the greetings and regards of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani of the Kurdistan Region.
He emphasized the significant, historical, and strategic nature of the Kurdistan Region’s relations with Turkey, underlining the importance of strengthening ties between Erbil and Istanbul across all sectors, particularly trade, and enhancing coordination between the two sides.
In response, the Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu, expressed his pleasure at the visit of the Governor of Erbil. He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering relations and conveyed his readiness to provide full coordination and support to further develop ties with Erbil. In another aspect of the meeting, the Governor of Erbil formally invited the Mayor of Istanbul to visit Erbil.
In return, Ekrem Imamoglu, the Mayor of Istanbul, extended an official invitation to the Governor of Erbil to participate in a special conference addressing issues in the Middle East.
The conference is scheduled to take place on December 12, 2024, in Istanbul, with the participation of governors and mayors from various Middle Eastern and global cities. Both sides graciously accepted each other’s invitations, expressing mutual appreciation for the opportunities to strengthen their collaboration and dialogue.
