The Imrali Delegation in Erbil: "Resolving the Kurdish issue in Turkey will have an impact on other parts of Kurdistan and the Middle East."
Today, Monday, February 17, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received the Imrali Delegation at the Governor's office. The delegation consisted of Pervin Buldan, DEM Party MP from Van; Sirri Sureyya Onder; Gulcan Kacmaz Sayyigit; Mehmet Kamac; Berdan Ozturk ; Keskin Bayindir, Co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP); and a delegation of Ocalan's lawyers.
In the meeting, the visiting delegation thanked the Governor of Erbil for hosting them in Erbil for two days. They also emphasized the importance of their meetings with President Barzani and the President of the Kurdistan Region.
Later, in a joint press conference, the Governor of Erbil, within the framework of their visit to the Kurdistan Region, referred to the meetings of the aforementioned delegation with President Barzani and today with the President of the Kurdistan Region, and stated: "The Kurdistan Region has played an important role in the peace process in the past and supports it. We hope that the steps of the peace process in Turkey will be better after the delegation returns."
Afterwards, Keskin Bayindir, Co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), spoke on behalf of the delegation and stated, "We have been in Erbil, in the Kurdistan Region, for two days.
Yesterday we had a meeting with President Barzani, which lasted one hour and 45 minutes. We conveyed the greetings and affection of the esteemed Ocalan to President Barzani, along with his message for peace and the resolution process.
Our meetings with President Barzani and Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, were very good and will have a positive impact on the advancement of a new peace process in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan."
He also revealed that in both meetings, "We discussed the future of the Kurds, how the peace and resolution process will progress, and what the role and position of all Kurdish parties will be in the process."
He also said, "Mr. Ocalan values the thoughts of President Masoud Barzani and Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, very highly."
He also mentioned, "The Kurdish people hope that a new peace process will be announced based on democracy and justice. Certainly, resolving the Kurdish issue in Turkey will have a positive impact on other parts of Kurdistan and even the Middle East."
He further stated: "The Kurdish issue has become a regional and international issue, and all countries in the region are discussing how to resolve the issue. However, the stance and role of Kurdish officials is more influential than all others."
