Governor of Erbil Receives Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Today, Thursday, February 20, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received Faramarz Asadi, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil, and his accompanying delegation at the Governor's office.

During the meeting, which was attended by Shaker Hussein, the official in charge of relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran, both sides, in addition to emphasizing the importance of developing relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region, the Governor of Erbil congratulated the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran on assuming his duties and wished him success in his mission. He also expressed his readiness for all cooperation and coordination to ensure the success of his work.
 

In response, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran thanked the Governor of Erbil and the Erbil Governorate administration for the relationship, coordination, cooperation, and facilitation they have provided to their country's consulate over the past years. He also emphasized that the city of Erbil and its governor hold a special place for them, and that Erbil is important to them.
 

In another part of the meeting, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran conveyed the greetings and respect of the three governors (of West Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, and Sanandaj) to the Governor of Erbil and officially invited the Governor of Erbil to visit his country for a broad meeting of governors, which is scheduled to be held in the city of Kermanshah or West Azerbaijan (Urmia).

For his part, the Governor of Erbil, in addition to accepting the invitation, sent his greetings and respect to the governors of West Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, and Sanandaj through him. Then, both sides expressed their pleasure with the full implementation of the points in the agreement between the Erbil Governorate and the West Azerbaijan Province (Urmia), which, following the signing of this agreement, has resolved most of the problems and difficulties that existed at the two international border crossings (Tamarchen - Haji Omaran) in past years.
 

Finally, the Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Erbil reiterated his thanks to the Governor of Erbil and expressed his readiness for all cooperation to advance and strengthen relations.
