The Governor of Erbil receives a British delegation
Today, Sunday, February 23, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received a British delegation at the Governor's Office. The delegation consisted of Martin Round, the Mayor of Maidstone, Karen Constantinou, the Deputy President of the Kent Regional Trade Union Congress, Roger Lyons, the former President of the Trade Union Congress and President of the Kent Regional Trade Union Federation, Jassin Kabalan, Dr. Khoshnaw Qazi, and Dr. Farhan Ahmed.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Governor of Erbil, while welcoming the visiting delegation, expressed his hope that they would enjoy their time in the city of Erbil and have a successful visit to the Kurdistan Region.
For their part, the visiting delegation thanked the Governor of Erbil for his reception and presented a summary of their visit's purpose and objectives to Erbil and the Kurdistan Region. They also expressed their happiness in visiting Erbil and witnessing the development, peace, security, and democracy that prevails there.
The Governor of Erbil, in turn, pointed to the historical oppression and injustice that the Kurdish people and its components have endured, saying that this oppression continues to this day. He added that if it weren't for this oppression and injustice, the capital city of Erbil and the Kurdistan Region would be much more developed and prosperous than they are today.
In another part of the meeting, focus was placed on the development of religious coexistence in the Kurdistan Region in general and the capital Erbil in particular. In this regard, the Governor of Erbil emphasized that Erbil, as a historical city, has throughout history been a haven of coexistence, tolerance, reconciliation, brotherhood, and love for everyone. Today, it has become a beautiful example in the region and the world. Throughout history, the adversaries and enemies of our people have not been able to destroy this coexistence through force and power.
Later, discussions focused on strengthening commercial and industrial relations between Erbil and Maidstone and the Kent region.
On this matter, the Governor of Erbil stated that although many British companies are already operating in the Kurdistan Region, our desire is to strengthen trade and industrial relations with all countries, including Britain. As the Erbil Governorate, our doors are open to investors and businesspeople from your country, and we are ready to provide all facilitation and cooperation within the framework of the Kurdistan Region's applicable laws to companies, traders, and investors who want to play a role in advancing and developing investment in the capital city of Erbil.
Finally, discussions were held about the general situation in the region and the changes and developments that have occurred in the area. The visiting delegation once again thanked the Governor of Erbil for his reception and support.
