The Governor of Erbil receives the Australian Ambassador to Iraq
Today Wednesday March 19, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Glenn Miles, the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, at the Governor's Office.
During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil, while welcoming the ambassador, expressed hope that his stay in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, would be pleasant and comfortable. He also emphasized the importance of opening an Australian consulate in the city of Erbil.
Later, discussions covered the latest political changes and developments in Iraq, Kurdistan Region, as well as relations between the Kurdistan Region and Australia, and relations between Erbil and Baghdad. Both sides agreed on the continuation and strengthening of relations between the Kurdish and Australian people.
For this purpose, the Governor of Erbil highly appreciated the ongoing efforts of the Australian Embassy in Iraq to develop and enhance their country's relations with the Kurdistan Region.
In another part of the meeting, discussions focused on climate change challenges and the solutions, projects, and programs that Erbil Governorate, with the support of the Kurdistan Regional Government, has undertaken within Erbil province for this purpose.
Finally, the Australian Ambassador to Iraq, while expressing his happiness with visiting the capital Erbil and the progress, peace, and security prevailing in the city, emphasized the continued coordination between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Australian Government in various fields.
