In Erbil… The first international climate change conference was held
Today, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, participated in the first International Climate Change Conference under the title "Working to Address Climate Change - Challenges and Solutions," which was organized by Salahaddin University in the capital city of Erbil.
At the conference, which was attended by the Kurdistan Region's Minister of Agriculture, the Advisor to the Prime Minister's Office, the Head of the Coordination Department, university presidents, representatives from 15 countries and 29 universities (from Kurdistan, Iraq, Arab countries, and Europe), along with a significant number of experts and specialists, 163 researchers from Kurdistan and various countries (Iraq, Tunisia, Jordan, Britain, UAE, Greece, Bangladesh, Turkey, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Netherlands, Iran, and Syria) are participating with 54 research papers over two days. The conference addresses several important climate-related topics, including water and air pollution, drought, global warming, toxic gas emissions, health and agriculture issues, and other climate change challenges.
