The Governor of Erbil receives the new Consul General of Italy

On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Tommaso Sansone, the new Consul General of Italy in Erbil, at the Governorate office.
 

In the meeting, the Governor of Erbil, while welcoming him, congratulated him on assuming his post and wished him success in his mission. He expressed the Erbil Governorate's support for the success of his work. He also highly valued the role and work of his country's previous consul in Erbil and emphasized the strengthening of political, economic, commercial, cultural, and artistic relations between Italy and the Kurdistan Region.
 

On his part, the new Consul General of Italy in Erbil highlighted the historical and friendly relations between the Kurdistan Region and Italy and reaffirmed his country's readiness for further development of bilateral relations in various fields.
 

In another part of the meeting, the Governor of Erbil highly valued the support and backing of Italy within the framework of the international coalition for the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces in the war against ISIS terrorists. He also mentioned the effective role of advisors from the Italian forces in coordination and collaboration in the military field and the training of the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces.
 

Finally, the new Consul of Italy expressed great thanks to the Governor of Erbil for the reception. He expressed his happiness with his visit to the Erbil Governorate and hoped for joint work and greater coordination between the two sides.
