Tehran... Kurdistan Region Delegation Visits Tehran Governor
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, in the capital Tehran, the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation, headed by Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil and including Dr. Ali Tatar, Governor of Duhok, Dr. Haval Abubakr, Governor of Sulaymaniyah, and Nuxsha Nasih, Governor of Halabja, visited the Governorate of Tehran and was received by Mohammad Sadegh Motamedian, Governor of Tehran.
During the meeting, which was attended by the Head of Region-Iran Relations, the heads of the Chambers of Commerce of Erbil and Duhok, the Head of the Haji Omran International Border Crossing, and the KRG Representation in Tehran, both sides emphasized the development of trade and economic relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran. They also reiterated that they will exert all their efforts to strengthen industrial and commercial relations and find suitable solutions for their further development.
For his part, the Governor of Tehran, while welcoming the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation, highlighted the third meeting between the border provinces of the Region and Iran. He hoped that the mutual understanding between the cities would lead to further development of trade and industrial movement and would be beneficial to both sides.
He also stated, "Being Tehran province, the capital and a significant industrial and economic hub of the Islamic Republic of Iran, we reaffirm our complete cooperation and support for enhancing and expanding trade and economic relations between the Region and Iran." The Head of the Kurdistan Regional Government delegation, speaking on behalf of the delegation, thanked the Governor of Tehran for the welcome. He also praised his role in the first agreement between Erbil and Urmia Provinces, pointing out that, due to his efforts, the relations between the cities of the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran are currently at a very good level, a situation that has also positively impacted the high-level relations between both sides
On this matter, he stated, "The product of these agreements and mutual understandings is today's meeting with the honorable President of the Islamic Republic. It was an important and productive meeting, and His Excellency declared his complete support for the agreement involving all the border provinces and cities between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran."
In another part of the meeting, the preparations for welcoming Iranian pilgrims traveling through the territory of the Kurdistan Region to the holy sites in Iraq were discussed. Regarding this matter, the Governor of Erbil confirmed that all necessary preparations for serving them have been made.
