Erbil... An Extensive Meeting was Held at the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Supervised by the Governors of Erbil and West Azerbaijan "Urmia"
On Monday, July 28, 2025, under the supervision of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, and Reza Rahmani, Governor of West Azerbaijan (Urmia), an extensive meeting was held with the Erbil Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Investors Union, the Contractors Union, and the Importers and Exporters Union.
The meeting was attended by the Consul General in Erbil, the official for relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran, a member of the Iranian Parliament from the city of Piranshahr, the District Governor of Central Erbil, and heads of institutions and departments concerned with trade, investment, tourism, and transportation. Also present were officials from the border crossings, heads of chambers of commerce and industry, and investors, exporters, and importers from both sides.
The discussions focused on the economic situation and how to strengthen trade activity between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kurdistan Region. Emphasis was also placed on developing commercial and industrial relations and enhancing trade movement between the two sides, highly praising the role of the Chambers of Commerce of Erbil and West Azerbaijan "Urmia".
In this regard, the Governor of Erbil reiterated, "As the Erbil Governorate, we reaffirm our commitment to all points of the agreement between the Erbil Governorate and the West Azerbaijan (Urmia) Governorate. We are prepared to offer all facilities to the companies and businesspeople of the Islamic Republic of Iran so that they can have a role and impact in the progress, advancement, and development of trade, industry, and investment in the capital, Erbil."
He also expressed his hope that through mutual cooperation, coordination, further understanding, and the establishment of other necessary procedures and mechanisms, the commercial and economic relations between the Region and Iran will see even greater progress.
For their part, the Governor of West Azerbaijan (Urmia) and the accompanying delegation expressed their happiness with their visit to the capital, Erbil. They highly valued the role of the Governor of Erbil in advancing economic and industrial relations and trade activity between Erbil and West Azerbaijan, and indicated their desire for further development of the agreement and understanding between the two provinces.
They also affirmed that they will make every effort to further strengthen the industrial and commercial relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Finally, both sides emphasized the coordination between the investors and businesspeople of Erbil and West Azerbaijan (Urmia) and the advancement, improvement, and strengthening of economic and trade activity between them. They also expressed their satisfaction with the full implementation of the points of their agreement and the progress that has been achieved between them.
