President of the Kurdistan Region Welcomes a Delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran

Today, Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Nechirvan Barzani, the President of the Kurdistan Region, met with a delegation from the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Reza Rahmani, the Governor of West Azerbaijan.
 

In the meeting, the Governor of West Azerbaijan conveyed the special greetings of Mr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to the President of the Kurdistan Region and reiterated his country's desire to develop relations with the Kurdistan Region.
 

He also praised the relations and joint cooperation of his province with the Erbil Governorate and the agreements between them to develop trade, facilitate movement at the border crossings, and ease the travel of religious pilgrims to southern Iraq via the Kurdistan Region.
 

For his part, the President of the Kurdistan Region, after extending his greetings and respect to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, emphasized that the Kurdistan Region values its historical relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran and desires to further develop relations and joint cooperation in all fields.
 

In the meeting, which the Governor of Erbil attended, several ideas and proposals were presented on how to improve trade movement and traffic at the border crossings.
