Erbil Governor Receives New Commander of Italian Forces in the Kurdistan Region

On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received the new commander of the Italian forces in the Kurdistan Region and his accompanying delegation at the Governorate's office.
 

During the meeting, the Governor of Erbil reiterated his congratulations to the new commander on the occasion of assuming his duties. He emphasized the importance of the relationship between Italy and the Kurdistan Region, noting that Italy has been an important country within the International Coalition and the fight against terrorists.
He highly praised the role of the Italian forces and their support and assistance, especially in training the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces. The governor also acknowledged their cooperation and support for governmental institutions, particularly in the health sector, and the various civilian projects they have presented.

In this regard, he stressed the importance of greater coordination and cooperation between their team and the Erbil Governorate.
 

For his part, the Commander of the Italian Forces in the Kurdistan Region thanked the Governor of Erbil for his coordination and cooperation with their forces. He also pledged that they will continue their humanitarian assistance with the Erbil Governorate and their advisory role and relationship with the Kurdistan Peshmerga forces.
