The Governor of Erbil receives the Ambassador of Kuwait to Iraq and the team of the Consulate General of Kuwait in Erbil

Today, Sunday, August 24, 2025, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, received Hassan Mohammed Al-Zaman, the Ambassador of Kuwait to Iraq, and the team of the Consulate General of Kuwait in Erbil at the governorate's office.
 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador of Kuwait to Iraq thanked the Governor of Erbil for the warm welcome and pointed to the historical relationship between the people and government of Kuwait and the leadership of the Kurdish people. He emphasized that the emirs and rulers of Kuwait are familiar with all the oppression, injustice, and genocide that have been committed against the people of Kurdistan, and they have viewed the Kurdish nation from a humanitarian perspective.

For his part, the Governor of Erbil, in addition to expressing his happiness with the visit of the Ambassador of Kuwait to Iraq and the team of the Consulate General of Kuwait in Erbil, reiterated that the leadership and people of Kurdistan are proud of their friendship with the Kuwaitis, who have occupied a special place in the heart of every Kurd. This deep and historical relationship has been clearly reflected at the level of the Kurdish leadership.

The Governor of Erbil thanked the Kuwaiti Consulate, which, through the Barzani Charity Foundation and the Red Crescent, has had coordination and a joint relationship in providing aid and assistance to the victims and displaced people whom the Kurdistan Region has embraced as a safe area.
 

In this regard, he emphasized the development of relations, coordination, and cooperation between the Erbil Governorate and the Consulate of Kuwait in Erbil, and stated: "Certainly, as the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Erbil Governorate, although there has been a good relationship in the past, we wish to expand and strengthen that relationship and coordination between us...."

In another topic of the meeting, the Governor of Erbil and the Ambassador of Kuwait to Iraq exchanged views on the mechanism for strengthening economic and trade relations between them. Both sides agreed that there is a suitable ground for investment by Kuwaiti investors in the Kurdistan Region, especially in the city of Erbil, where 67% of the investment volume of the Kurdistan Region is in the capital. A promise was also made to create favorable and suitable conditions for Kuwaiti tourists who visit the charming cities, plains, and mountains of the tourist areas.
 

In conclusion, the Governor of Erbil and the Ambassador of Kuwait to Iraq expressed their shared view on the long-standing and historic relationship at the high diplomatic and social levels between the people of Kurdistan and the people of Kuwait. Both sides reaffirmed their eagerness for the further development of the relations between them.
