Real Madrid Spanish Club Academy Officially Opened in Erbil

This evening, Friday, May 8, 2026, in the presence of Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, consuls and diplomats from various countries, the Director of Erbil Traffic Police, the Director of Erbil Police, and Kurdish and foreign sports figures, the Real Madrid Spanish Club Academy and a youth game center were officially opened at Erbil Avenue.
 

The opening of the Real Madrid Academy in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, signifies the Kurdistan Regional Government's commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure, especially under the ninth cabinet of the esteemed Prime Minister Masrour Barzani.
This will be a key factor in bringing qualitative change to advance the sports movement in Erbil and throughout the Kurdistan Region.
 

The Real Madrid Royal Club Academy is dedicated to children aged 6 to 17, operating under the guidance and program of the Real Madrid Royal Spanish Club. The same system will be followed at the club's academy in Erbil. Real Madrid Club has a large fan base in the Kurdistan Region and Erbil, hence the warm welcome received upon the opening of the club's academy in Erbil city.
