Real Madrid Foundation Educational Football Program Officially Launches in Erbil

On Friday, May 8, 2026, the Real Madrid Foundation’s educational football program was officially launched in the city of Erbil. The ceremony was attended by Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, representatives of the Kurdistan Regional Government, diplomats and consuls from several countries, senior officials, and a group of prominent figures from the sports community.
 

The program is implemented under the supervision of the Real Madrid Foundation. Its primary objective is to utilize sports as a tool to promote education and contribute to the personal, social, and athletic development of children and youth.

The launch of this program reflects the Kurdistan Region’s ongoing commitment to empowering youth and supporting the region’s sports infrastructure through internationally recognized educational programs.
The Real Madrid Foundation's educational football program is open to both boys and girls aged 6 to 17. The training sessions are conducted according to the Real Madrid Foundation's educational methodology, which uses football as a medium to instill core values such as respect, teamwork, responsibility, equality, healthy living, and personal growth.

The training is delivered by local coaches who receive continuous technical instruction and professional supervision in accordance with the standards and educational principles of the Real Madrid Foundation.
The establishment of this program in Erbil marks another significant step toward expanding access to high-quality educational sports initiatives for children and youth in the Kurdistan Region.
