Najaf Governor and Accompanying Delegation Arrive in Erbil

This evening, Sunday, May 17, 2026, Hemin Qadir, Deputy Governor of Erbil, accompanied by Dr. Ali Rashid, Head of Erbil Provincial Council, and a number of Kurdish parliamentarians from Baghdad, received Yusuf Kanawi, Governor of Najaf, and an accompanying delegation at Erbil International Airport, within the framework of inter-provincial relations and cooperation.
 

In a meeting, discussions focused on developing relations, exchanging experiences in the fields of services and urban development, and reiterated coordination between Iraqi cities to expand bilateral ties. In another aspect, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening administrative relations between Erbil and Najaf.

They also highlighted the importance of cooperation between the two cities to serve citizens and develop service projects.

It is worth noting that the high-level delegation from Najaf is scheduled to hold several meetings with Kurdistan Region officials during their stay
