In Erbil... The First Annual Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Panorama Forum of the United Nations Was Held
Today, Tuesday, May 19, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, the Governor of Erbil, participated in the inauguration ceremony of the First Annual Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Panorama Forum of the United Nations, which serves as a new strategic platform for discussing sustainable development and international coordination.
The ceremony, attended by Gohdar Shekho, Supervisor of the Independent Administration of Zakho, and a significant number of officials, representatives of parties and political factions in the region, diplomats, and representatives of United Nations (UN) agencies and international organizations, highlighted several important strategic issues.
These included strengthening the role of local institutions in implementing the UN's comprehensive development plans, developing coordination between the Kurdistan Regional Government and international missions to address economic and environmental challenges, and introducing investment opportunities and human development.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Governor of Erbil, while commending the organizers and supervisors of the forum, emphasized Erbil Governorate's commitment to the principles of inclusivity and sustainable development.
He stated that they are working to create a suitable environment for the success of national and international projects in order to better serve the citizens of the capital of the Kurdistan Region.
