Erbil Governor Receives New Consul General of the Czech Republic

Today, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, within the framework of efforts to strengthen relations and expand bilateral cooperation between the Kurdistan Region and the Czech Republic, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Lukas Gjuric, the new Consul General of the Czech Republic, at the Governor's office.

In a meeting, both sides discussed the importance of developing diplomatic, economic, commercial, and cultural relations and emphasized the necessity of continuing cooperation and exchanging experiences in various fields.
 

The Governor of Erbil highlighted Erbil's most important service projects, discussing projects for constructing water reservoirs and dams, rapid relief projects, and providing drinking water for Erbil city, as well as lighting projects for illuminating homes and streets, and waste recycling projects. He also stressed the importance of expanding green belts and preserving Erbil city's environment, noting that increasing green areas plays an effective role in urban aesthetics, improving the environmental climate, and raising the health standards of citizens.
 

The new Consul General of the Czech Republic thanked the Governor of Erbil and expressed his country's readiness to develop cooperation and exchange expertise in various fields of service and urban development.
 

At the end of the session, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing joint relations and cooperation with the aim of supporting development and service projects in Erbil Governorate.
