Kurdistan Region President Supports Relations Between Erbil and Baghdad Provinces

This morning, Wednesday, June 17, 2026, His Excellency Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, received His Excellency Engineer Atwan Al-Atwani, Governor of Baghdad, and an accompanying delegation.
 

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening coordination between Erbil and Baghdad as the two main centers of Iraq, particularly in the areas of services, development, and municipality, in order to raise the level of services for citizens.
 

The President of the Kurdistan Region reiterated the Kurdistan Region's support for deepening cooperation and partnership between the two provinces of Erbil and Baghdad in various fields, and stressed the necessity of benefiting from each other's successful experiences to better serve both provinces.

The importance of continued communication and cooperation to advance the reconstruction and development process in both cities was another topic of the meeting, which was attended by His Excellency Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil.
