Erbil Governor Receives Chief of IOM Mission in Iraq

Today, Monday, June 29, 2026, Omed Khoshnaw, Governor of Erbil, received Pascal Reyntjens is the Chief of Mission for the International Organization for Migration (IOM), and his accompanying delegation at the Governor's office.

During the meeting, which was attended by Srwa Rasul, Director General of JCC, and Naz Jalal, Director of Crisis Management in the Governorate, discussions focused on community-level integration projects, strengthening returnees' and host community members' access to socio-economic opportunities and basic services.

For his part, the Governor of Erbil commended the implementation of the project, reaffirming the Governorate's full support for such humanitarian and social projects that directly serve returnees and community members. He also stressed their support for the voluntary return of IDPs and refugees, stating that they are in no way in favor of forced returns.

Finally, the Governor of Erbil praised the partnership and coordination between the Kurdistan Regional Government institutions and international organizations, describing it as a strong factor in providing economic opportunities and delivering health and social services to returnees.
