Nechirvan Barzani attends the opening of the Gulf Cup

On Friday, January 6, 2023. Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani, in the presence of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Mohammed Halbusi and a number of senior Iraqi officials and accompanied by a delegation from the Minister of Culture and Youth of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the governors of Erbil, Sulaimani and Duhok and the Director General of Sports and Youth visited Basra to attend the opening ceremony of the 25th Gulf Cup.

In a press conference, Mr. Nechirvan Barzani said: “We came to attend the opening ceremony of the Gulf Cup 25. This is an important event for Iraq, the first time since 2003, I think it is the most important event that is being held in Basra. We came to Basra as a delegation from the Kurdistan Region to congratulate you and we were pleased with this visit”.
