Statement from President Masoud Barzani to Iraqi and Kurdistan public opinion

Unfortunately, the Federal Court of Iraq once more showed another hostile attitude towards the Kurdistan Region and prevented the federal government from sending the money that was intended for the Kurdistan region.

The fundamental issue here is not the amount of money rather, it is the infringement of rights and principles. Everyone is aware that the establishment of the new Iraqi government and our involvement in the state administration coalition were based on a precise and comprehensive program that all parties had agreed upon.

The provision of some of the entitlements of the Kurdistan Region, which is a legitimate right of the Kurdistan people, was part of the program and was agreed upon. Therefore, today's decision of the Federal Court, before being against the Kurdistan Region, is against the political process, against the Iraqi government and against the program of the coalition itself.

It is astonishing that the Federal Court has always sought to sabotage any attempts to resolve disputes between the Kurdistan Region and Baghdad whenever a favorable environment has been established and a chance to resolve the problems. It has taken the place of the former regime's Revolutionary Court and is evidently pursuing a questionable agenda.

I call on the Iraqi government and the constituent parties of the state administration coalition to show their position on the violations and opposition committed by the Federal Court against the interests of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
