Rebar Ahmed: no security incident has taken place so far at Erbil International Airport

The Kurdistan Regional Government Minister of Interior, Rebar Ahmed, announced that no security incident has taken place so far at Erbil International Airport due to staff negligence, indicating that the airport security authorities have brought many people to the courts because of the violation of the law and instructions.
The Minister of Interior of the Kurdistan Regional Government spoke at a press conference today, Sunday, February 5, 2023, after the arrival of a delegation from the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with the aim of conducting an assessment and audit at Erbil International Airport (EIA).

The Minister of Interior in the regional government described the step of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to make an evaluation of Erbil International Airport as very important, adding that it is the first in the history of Iraqi airports that an international organization of this international level comes and conducts an evaluation of the airport closely.

Ahmed expressed the full readiness of the Ministry of the Interior to provide all aspects of cooperation and coordination to the delegation of the international organization, stressing that the goal of the Kurdistan Regional Government, the Ministry and the airport is to preserve the safety and lives of all travelers and employees, and in this regard, Minister Ahmed praised the efforts of the Kurdish security establishment.
